Apple to pay labels post Taylor Swift’s open criticism

Apple has announced it will pay labels for rights to stream their music, just a day after pop star Taylor Swiftslammed the company for its three-month free trial.

In a tweet, senior vice president of internet services and software Eddy Cue wrote that Apple would pay artists during the 90-day period.

Calling the trial “shocking, disappointing and completely unlike this historically progressive and generous company,” Swift, 25,

had written in an open letter she would not release her latest album “1989” on Apple Music streaming service.Swift explained that Apple’s planned three-month free trial for the service,

during which labels will not be paid for music sales, was keeping her from providing the album.”We know how astronomically successful Apple has been,

and we know that this incredible company has the money to pay artists, writers and producers for the three-month trial period… Even if it is free for the fans trying it out.”

She added that she is able to support herself and her team on live performances, but she is looking out for newer artists, songwriters and producers who are not yet as financially successful.

“These are not the complaints of a spoiled, petulant child. These are the echoed sentiments of every artist, writer and producer in my social circles.

who are afraid to speak up publicly because we admire and respect Apple so much. We simply do not respect this particular call.”

“We don’t ask you for free iPhones. Please don’t ask us to provide you with our music for no compensation,” she said.

Brothers is not conventional says Jacqueline Fernandez

Bollywood diva Jacqueline Fernandez, who was recently spotted at the Lonely Planet Travel Awards in India’s showbiz capital Mumbai,

said that her role in upcoming action movie ‘Brothers’ is not conventional.The ‘Race 2′ star asserted that she will be seen in a different avatar in the upcoming action flick than her previous roles.

Whilst addressing the media, the 29-year-old actress continued that it was the most challenging and difficult role she has done till date.

‘Brothers’ is an upcoming action movie, directed by Karan Malhotra, starring Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra in the lead roles and is scheduled for August 14, 2015 release.

Impressed by Nargis Fakhri’s Hollywood debut

When Nargis Fakhri opted out of the Akshay Kumar starrer, The Shaukeens, for a Hollywood film, Spy, her detractors sniggered that it would be a blink-and-miss appearance. Well, she’s there for just 10 seconds in the trailer, but has caught the eye thanks to a knife fight with the film’s leading lady, Bridesmaids star Mellisa McCarthy. Critics who saw the film at a special screening are impressed by her badass avatar.


“I’m lucky to be a part of such a huge film. You don’t land such an opportunity on your debut. Even if I don’t have much screen time I feel special,” says Nrgias, arguing that in the West big names play small parts that come together to make an amazing project.


She points to even Amitabh Bachchan (The Great Gatsby) and Anil Kapoor (Mission Impossible 4) played bit roles and Priyanka Chopra bagged her TV show, Quantico, after years of scouting Los Angeles. Refuting rumours that good friend Uday Chopra got her the film, Nargis argues that she was a fashion model who lived in New York and travelled the world. “I won’t drop names but I interacted with a lot of producers, directors and actors there. But in Hollywood, no matter who you are, you have to audition and only if the producer and director agree that you fit in, will they cast you.” she reasons.


Cut to the knife fight in the kitchen and Nargis admits that despite three days of training and hours practising in front of the mirror, she still hurt herself during the shoot because Melissa hit out when she wasn’t expecting her to. “She even hit me on the head with a frying pan. Luckily, it was light so I ended with a bump and not in the hospital,” she laughs. “It was painful then and funny now.” So what’s Melissa, the unlikely Bond of this spy thriller, really like?


Nargis says that she’s funny and caring: “She’d adjust my pants or brush lint off my shirt and I’d have an OMG moment.”And Jude Law? “He’s cool, we talked about India, spirituality and yoga. But my fan moment was when I met 50 Cents. For three days I was speechless, then asked for a photograph,” she reminisces.


Nargis would like to balance both worlds but for now the focus is Bollywood. “I’m in talks for a couple of projects. I hope to play a bad girl here too now that I can wield a knife.If you’re in any trouble, call me,” she signs off with a laugh.

Deepika to set up mental health care foundation

Bollywood ‘Dimpled Beauty’ Deepika Padukone will start a foundation to promote mental health care on March 21.

The foundation will be named as “The Live Love Laugh Foundation”. March 21 was finalised as this was the day that she decided to seek professional help last year.

The ‘Happy New Year’ actress, who herself suffered from depression for a brief period last year, came out and spoke about it, for which she received a lot of support. It was then, that she realised that mental health issues are quite common but barely anything is being done to prevent these issues. And since she herself suffered, she wants to work towards improving the mental health scenario in our country.

Deepika Padukone has been working towards the cause along with a team of doctors and psychiatrists. The name has been registered and while other details have yet to be finalized.

Although she has a packed schedule, Deepika is making time to understand the situation and is working towards it. She has decided to take up this common yet taboo issue and is dedicating 2015 to create mental health awareness.

Shah Rukh shoots for Fan despite injury

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has pulled a muscle while shooting for his upcoming film ‘Fan’ in Croatia.

The 49-year-old actor, who is shooting the Maneesh Sharma-directed film, tweeted that he was in lot of pain.

“Serious ouch time! Hamstring shaken fortunately not stirred. Injections galore, running like a duck. Not that I don’t like ducks but it sucks!,” SRK tweeted.

In an interview with a popular fashion magazine Karan Johar revealed that he would have wanted Bebo to be his wife.

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karan Johar have one of the strongest friendships in Bollywood. I always feel that if I were a man who would be interested, she would be the wife I wanted, or if I had to have a sibling, she would be the sister I never had, or if I was interested in dating women, she would probably be the woman I would want to date. Of course, she has her limitations and so do I.”

Well, imagine what it would have been, had Karan and Kareena actually got married. One thing we know for sure is that they would have made the sassiest couple in Bollywood! But we like it this way too, their friendship is the sweetest thing and we hope that it remains the same forever!
